Funeral service for Sam Earl Chance, 67, of Clinton Township, were held at the Boehlke Funeral Home at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon. Rev Howard Walker of the Zion Evangelical United Brethren Church officiated. Burial was at the Oak Park Cemetery.

The IOOF Lodge of LaPorte conducted the service. The active pall bears were members of the Odd Fellows Lodge and there were 30 members of the lodge who attended in a body as honorary pallbearers. Boehlke and Jones were in charge of all arrangements.

Mr. Chance who had been ill for several months was taken to the Holy Family Hospital in the Boehlke and Jones ambulance Thursday afternoon, were he passed away Friday morning.

Sammie Earl Chance, the son of Frank and Ella Chance was born near Knox March 21, 1886.

He was united in marriage to Miss Oley Tatman of Knox on March 25, 1914.

Surviving are his widow, their five children, the daughter, Mrs. Richard (Evelyn) Metzinger of this place, the four sons, Earl Dean of Wanatah, Merle Sammie of Dover, Tennessee, Adrian at home and Marion of Indianapolis; also 8 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Kell of Santa Cruz, Calif, and Mrs. Effie Sonnenberg of Peru. Preceding him in death were his parents, 2 sisters and 2 brothers.

Mr. Chance was a member of the Zion Evangelical United Brethren Church of this place and also a member of the IOOF Lodge of LaPorte.
