Alpha Jane TUCKER CHANCE
The Starke County Ledger - INDIANA Thursday September 17, 1885
DIED
Five miles north of this place, Mrs. Jane CHANCE, September 9th, 1885, of dropsy; aged 51years, 4 months, and 16 days. Sister CHANCE was a true and constant Christian until her death. Although deprived of attending meetings, she did not forget her trust in her Savior. Her trust on him was stayed; to feel she has entered in at the pearly gates; into the golden city; with loved ones that have gone before. She leaves a husband and two children to mourn her loss. Also a brother and a sister, and a host of friends.
The Starke County Ledger - INDIANA Feb. 28, 1878
Died - At his residence in Center township, this county, on the 20th inst. Edward TUCKER, an old resident of this county. He was born in Tuscarawas County, in the state of Ohio on the 30th day of January, 1830 making his age 48 years, 1 month, and 17 days. He leaves his widow and eight children, four sons and four daughters, to mourn his loss. Mr. TUCKER was a good citizen, and one of the most enterprising farmers, but death, that fell destroyer of all earthy hopes, came and cut him down in the prime of life. His funeral was conducted by the Masonic fraternity of this place, and the brethren from North Judson, accompanied by the brass band of that place. The family and friends have our sympathy in this their hour of affliction.

from
lawyer1@bright.netI did do some research after your most recent message. I found the following
information in the Church Book for the Beersheba Moravian Congregation, located
in Clay Township, Tuscarawas County Ohio.
Initially, I found many references to the Rebstock surname, some as early as the
1820s. There is a Samuel Amos Rebstock listed as born on 11/17/1837, the son of
Emanuel Rebstock and his wife, Maria (nee Rohrbauch). Then, I found "Louisa,
born 7/15/1845, baptized 11/1/1847, the illegitimate child of Samuel Tucker and
Mary Rebstock, nee Rohrbauch, of Port Washington." Finally, I found this entry
on Page 95:
"Died July 21, 1845; buried July 23, 1845. Mary Rebstock, a married woman,
daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth Rebstock, was born in Bavaria April 26, 1816.
She was married to Emanuel Rebstock, but deserted him, and was living at the
time of her death with Samuel Tucker, with whom she is said to have had three
children, the last of whom was born but a few days ago. (That would have been
the above-mentioned Louisa.) She was buried in Gnadenhutten cemetery at the same
time with the above child." (That seems strange because Louisa is listed above
as being baptized 11/1/1847!)
There was no mention in those records of a Nathan Rebstock, who would have been
born in 1845 or 1846, according to the records that you listed. The Beersheba
records also do not indicate whether Louisa's surname was Tucker or Rebstock. I
suppose that Nathan Rebstock could well have been one of the 3 children
mentioned who were born to Samuel Tucker and Mary Rebstock. If so, he would have
been a half-cousin to Benjamin Franklin Tucker.(CHANCE)
This is all pretty strange! It would appear that Samuel Tucker's first wife,
Mary Sells, died sometime after 1835, when Alpha Jane was born, but before he
began to live with Mary Rebstock, which could have been in 1842 at the latest.
